Hale Maluhia Country Inn (house of peace) Kona:: An Inn complex of several buildings with five lovely bed rooms and all with private baths. And two rather special cottages: A very private virtual tree house: Banyan Cottage of 850 sq. ft. with Jacuzzi & Shower. And a Japanese Tea House with shoji windows and a Carrara marble wet bath and ofuro on a near acre of tropical lush vegetation with big old trees in the beautiful Kona Coffee Country. The Inn amenities includes a full Breakfast Lover's Buffet and DIY Omelet Bar with hot waffles and bird watching, Free parking, Free use of snorkeling gear (as available), free extensive DVD movie library, free guest computer, free Wi-Fi and an extensive Christian book library. (Ken is a retired minister.) You can even do your laundry for $3. per load. The large Common area includes a Baby Grand Piano and other musical instruments available for guest use. The Inn also has an upcoming aquaponics garden and a few chickens for some really good organic eggs from time to time. This Inn is not touchy or fussy, it is 1970 - 80's virtual Hawaiian Plantation House with a gentle spirit of peace and aloha at a very reasonable price. BANYAN COTTAGE Interior of Banyan Cottage, we have two very lovely cottages for that special time with private baths. Includes a Japanese Tea House with a real Japanese Ofuro for a good hot soak, really built to feel Japanese.

The Big Island of Hawaii
Kona is a very special Pacific recreational paradise on the dry side of the Big Island of Hawaii with world class beaches, historical sites, world class fishing and, of course, the Volcano 100 miles south. Kailua-Kona was the place of choice for the Alii (King and Queens) of old Hawai'i choose to live on the sunny leeward side of the Big Island of Hawaii. The Big Island has 11 out of 14 world climates from being dryer than a desert in some parts to being a cold 300 inch tropical rain forest in others. The Volcano Area can be a very cold, 200 inch rain forest at the 4,000 ft. elevation so best to pick a good day by satellite when visiting the Volcano. Takes about 5 hours to drive completely around the Big Island of Hawaii.

My husband and I recently stayed in your B&B in the Japanese Tea House. We would just like to let you know how much we enjoyed the room, the atmosphere each morning, the helpfulness of the staff, especially Grace, and the beautiful breakfast you laid out for us. We had actually just gotten married a few days before we arrived on the big island, while in Maui, and we both said that we felt the honeymoon really started when we arrived at your beautiful place! Thanks again for making our first few days as a married couple so relaxed, comfortable and unique! We will be back in the future without a doubt! Loved the people and breakfast! The hosts were very kind and helpful. The breakfast was set out beautifully. Fresh fruit and pastries and make your own omelets. It is pretty close to town so that is convenient. Dsben

This was the first time my family and I had ever even considered staying in a bed and breakfast and Hale Maluhia Country Inn was amazing! Ken was a pleasure to work with and the property was breathtaking. The house was well furnished and gave the island feel, the breakfast was amazing and our breakfast entertainment, Mr. Turkey, was a crack up!!! Our Inn is located in the heart of one of the worlds best climates at a 940 foot elevation in the Holualoa Kona Coffee Country fruit belt. Yet only minutes to beaches, stores, shops and fine dining. Our Inn is only 3 miles to both the historical village of Kailua Kona and the art community of Holualoa if interested in Hawaiian Arts. Also the Inn is also only about 20 minutes south of the Kona International Airport (KOA) which is an easy 11 miles north of the Inn.
